Ironically nothing has proven better or more reliable to this very day. Nature has provided us with a perfect material and the most environmentally sound answer to a very challenging application - underwater hydro-bearings. We often hear from operators experiencing 25-30 years of maintenance-free service with typical operating costs of about 50 cents a day!! Many plants have converted and retrofitted to “modern” materials only to be disappointed with the poor performance of the “modern replacement,” requiring them to rework them after only 4-5 years!!
